by Jonathan Imberi Tomytec, a Japanese toy company and an affiliate of Namco Limited, recently released a series of peg toys on which you can create video game characters in their pixilated form by using hundreds of pegs plugged into a board. (Remember Lite Brite? Same concept – without the light.) Kind of like Japanese Legos. There are five different kits (Mario, Pac-Man, Luigi, Space Invaders and Dig Dug) and each one includes a few hundred pegs of different colors and two pegboards with stands to create your designs on. Each pegboard (including its stand) is 74mm tall by 64mm wide. The boards can be joined together to create a bigger display area. I am sure you can guess which kit I ordered. Each set contains instructions for creating multiple characters. For example, my Pac-Man kit allows creation of Pac-Man, Blinky, A Blue (Edible) Ghost, The Cherries, The Apple, The Galaxian Ship, Pac-Man and Blinky (with the boards combined), The Strawberry, and The Key. And of course whatever else your imagination allows! I received 130 yellow pegs, 130 red pegs, 30 white pegs, 140 blue pegs, 30 brown pegs and 60 cream pegs. The pegs came pre-sorted in little bags, and were very easy to assemble into the pegboard. After getting my package from the UPS man, I immediately devoted 20 minutes to creating my first Pac-Man Dot-Pin masterpiece. You can currently order Dot-Pin sets through National
