What are e-mail addresses and names used for?
Name and e-mail addresses are requested when you sign up to RetroBlast! as a spam-prevention measure and as a way to contact you should we need to. Why do you want to know my name and e-mail address? Names are requested in order to ensure a modicum of reliability that the person on the other end is a real person. We believe that people who give their names and email when posting comments in our forums are more likely to post honestly. In reality, there is no way that we can verify whether the name you have entered is your own. What other information do you track about me?
We collect data on any error messages you might receive, such as 404s or "file not found." We use this information to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our website. Your IP address is used to gather broad demographic information, such as the country of origin of our visitors.
