Gaming blog The Stupid Gamer has come across a collection of retro themed gamer tatoos. Although the author has labeled them 'bad tattoos', I think some of them are actually very nicely done. Whatever way you look at them, anyone that chooses to have their body inked with images declaring their old school love of video games is okay in our books!

Was browsing over at Think Geek yesterday for their annual April Fools Day sale.  Yep, I booked my copy of Wii Sports for IPhone, and I stumbled across these little gems .

I'm thinking I need a couple sets, because when I look at my fridge I see that I have a LOT of stuff that I need to keep on there.

I mean, those 3 month old coupons for the pizza joint around the corner are sure to be good to use 2 months from now.

And that coupon for .50 cents off of Oscar Meyer Bologna that I put up there last year needs something new to spruce it up.  Not to mention all the pictures that we've got plastered on there, and the calendar, and the white board, and the important phone numbers and the....

Man.  Nevermind cleaning the inside of the fridge.  I need to clean the outside!

The guys over at Blizzard obviously have a good understanding of what today's retro-gamer wants; modern games that bring our vintage gaming systems back to life. Today a lot of peoples dreams have been answered with a console port of World of Warcraft. Dubbed "World of Warcraft: The Molten Core", the up-coming games official website showcases some of the development teams talents with the 2600 port.

I for one will be brushing the dust off my 2600 and have it ready for a review of this release as soon as it's available.

Nooooo, that's NOT a frankenpanel gone horribly wrong.

That, my friends, is a DIY built from Arcade Parts to control a piece of software known as Ableton.  Ableton is described as "a complete music solution for Mac OS and Windows. Live covers the entire musical process, from inspiration to studio to stage."

The creator of this panel, The Prevolt had this to say: "This is what I'm using to control Ableton now. All arcade hardware, aluminum top panel by FPE, and a nice wood case courtesy of my man Michael Yates. It uses all key commands through a custom driver to handle playback, effects, editing, warping, UI, mouse clicks, scroll messages, and more, with a lot of tweaks (some strobe, some send double messages, etc)"

I wonder what else is out there that folks have used arcade parts to control?

Barry aka  Sonic 1992 over at DragonsLairFans.com has posted great tribute to his sister that also includes a walk down memory lane.

Who is Barry you might ask and why is this news?  Well, you might remember him from the very enviable gameroom that he managed to build outside his house known as Sonic 1992's Yesterdays. 

Anyhow, Barry posted a TON of old ads from our yesteryears including some vintage pac-man stuff as well as some great hand-drawn stuff that his sister put together as a kid.  Not to mention there are some great photos of him as he progressed through the 80s and early 90s with various arcade games and video games.

You see, Barry's sister passed away in 1995, but up until then, she was always clipping ads and saving memorabilia related to arcade games.  Brings back lots of memories.

So there I am, surfing Business Week filling my head with all the doom and gloom of the business world and trying to decide if I want to sell my stock in that company that manufacturers bulletproof vests for cats and what should I spot out of the corner of my eye but the Business Week Arcade!

Yessssss!

Now I can get the latest economic forecast and while pretending to read the article about top 10 trends CIOs should avoid I can get my game on!

Quite the interesting compilation of games including flOw,  LineGolfer and let's not forget Space Barnacle.

At first I was disappointed at the fact that a classic console would be destroyed, but then I thought about all those consoles that have made it to landfills only to sit and rot in their own plasticized goodness for another million years and I realized that repurposing a classic console into a musical instrument is a great idea!

TechEBlog has a great compendium of various consoles that have been turned into functional guitars.

Which then led me to MegaDriver. Be sure to check out the MP3s and the Sonic Guitar.

Here's a unique piece of history.  According to the Ebay Seller , this trophy of a Pong Cabinet encased in resin was given to his mother who worked at Atari and won a company Pong Tournament whereby she actually beat Nolan Bushnell.

Now that's some bragging rights right there.  Not only did you work for Atari during it's infancy and the days were able to witness, first hand, the dawning of a new era of electronics and video gaming, but you also played in a company Pong Tournament and took the godfather of console gaming to school and beat him!

Ya know, if that was my mother, I don't think I'd ever give up that trophy.  This kid must have had an awesome childhood frowing up with all the latest Atari stuff all the time.

Check out the auction here. This will look beautiful on any mantle.
