Alright, it's probably not a huge technical accomplishment, but it's still very noteworthy. It seems we always fall back to our roots and to a game that defined what FPS is today.
Joystiq.com has a quick blurb about a project to get Doom operating on the Apple iPhone. This is noteworthy because the iPhone is all "touch" controlled, meaning the controls for Doom itself will have to be integrated via the touch interface. Admittedly, it's going to be tough to play with your fingers in the way, but still pretty cool. Check out the video:

Whew! It's great to be back. I don't know about you, but after a long holiday, it's almost good to get back to work for some rest and relaxation. Yeah, ok, if you believe that, give me a call. We need to discuss your priorities.
Anyhow, this week brings us 3 new ports over to the Wii Virtual Console. Net rumors had some big announcement coming this week for the VC, but as of yet, nothing has been seen. In the meantime, new this week for the VC are: Bubble Bobble for the NES, Light Crusader for Sega Genesis, and Top Hunter for NEOGEO The Wii has become my new favorite console that I don't yet own. Hopefully Santa was good to many of you and put a Wii under your tree for Christmas. (0) Comments |

As part of their end of year wrap-up, Kotaku is looking back at one of their recurring features that somehow slipped right by me. Throughout the year Flynn De Marco has chosen an obscure flyer from TAFA and written a commentary on the games themselves as well as the sometimes curious imagery that was used on their promotional materials.

According to X-Entertainment , "The show still makes the rotation during Cartoon Network's ongoing Christmas special marathons, so if you're lucky, you might be able to catch it..." For a complete run-down of the film, along with screenshots, be sure to check out X-Entertainment's article otherwise, grab something to drink, and prepare to be mesmerized for the next 25 minutes of your life over at AOL Video. |

Jeff Kulczycki of Jeff's Romhack appears to have finally released his long awaited D2k: Jumpan Returns modification.
TheD2K: Jumpan Returns brings new life to Donkey Kong including "4 New Levels, 4 Old Levels, Intermissions and more! Plays original DK (classic mode) via startup menu or press Player1 and Player2 buttons to swap when set for FREEPLAY." Jeff has a nice write-up posted being hosted by Hyperspace Arcade Services and he had this to say: "I created four new levels in all--The Foundry, The Mixer, The Refinery, and The Incinerator. There was also a partial fifth level, called The Crane, but it never panned out. Designing and building the new levels to be fun and playable was no small task. It took a lot of iterations and trial-and-error to get things just right. Below I’ll walk you through the design and development stages of each of the new levels." Coming in at $40 for the chips, Braze Kit not included, you can have an awesome addition to your original Donkey Kong cab. D2K: Jumpan Returns via Romhack Rebuilding the Perfect Beast |

Spotted on Hot-Topic recently was this interesting hoodie with a screenshot of Pac-Man covering it from top to bottom.
Sizes range from XS to XL so for you larger types, like me, you're out of luck. And for those that don't know Hot-Topic can be found in just about any urban mall these days. They're the Spencer Gifts of this generation. The website had this description: "This black hoodie features an allover Pac-Man maze print. Watch out for those ghosts! Front zip closure. Pouch pockets. 80% cotton. 20% polyester. Wash cold. Dry low. Made in USA." If you're shopping for other arcade related items for your girlfriend, don't forget the Mighty Fine Invader Zim Tee or a pair of Gamer Shoelaces as a stocking stuffer. |

That's Sonic the Hedgehog on the left and on the right, that's Ryan Drummond the voice of Sonic himself. Separated at birth? Not so sure about that, but there's definitely a resemblance there.
GamerHelp.com is taking some of your favorite video game characters and unmasking them to show you the voices behind them. You know that theory that some 900-number sexy voices aren't really all that sexy in real life? Yeah, this proves it. Check out the Daphne - Lucille Bliss reference. I rest my case.
