I know it's rare, and the condition is most definitely a 10 out of 10, but the price? Well, it's definitely out of my range, but perhaps workable for the true, true collector.
"6 years ago it was found in a local toy company warehouse. It had been sitting in this distribution warehouse in Colorado, in a dry, controlled climate, since being shipped from the Entex factory in the early 1980s. It was never shipped out to any stores, due to low consumer demand - a casualty of the mid-1980's video game market crash. I personally was the first person to pull the Adventure Vision box out of the case, and the I am the only person who has ever touched this system since it left the Entex factory. This goes also for the 3 additional cartridges. The boxes have only been opened about 5-10 times. The unit has seen only a few hours total playtime. I remember there being 2 cases (7 or 8 systems) discovered in this warehouse." So for just $5500.00 US this mint condition item can be yours! At that price, I'd be putting this thing behind glass, with alarms and guard dogs and stuff. Entex Adventure Vision System. Complete. Near Perfect. |

I've got a feeling, it's just one of those things, you know, that you do so long that you just have to do it. Like, Mario, and running. That or just like any guy, he doesn't want to have to put on a monkey suit.

Via BoingBoing.net: "Flickr user Hello Naomi has been baking and icing a series of delicious, video-game-themed cupcakes, each more delicious-looking (and forbidden to me) than the last."
I've got to agree. Be sure to check out the Mario Cupcakes as well. Darnit! It's not even the end of January and already we're being tempted with all kinds of retro gaming food goodness! Come on people! At least let us make it through to May or June before we are tempted with such scrumptious looking goodies. Retro-Gamer Cupcakes OM NOM NOM NOM (0) Comments |

I have got to get my hands on a Wii. CNN has a write up on a title that was released for the Wii last week called Furu Furu Park. The game, being billed as a Party Title and produced by Taito, features 30 mini games, including some classics turned motion based:
"Included among Furu Furu Park's 30 different mini-games are: -- Arkanoid: an arcade classic pitting paddle and ball against a wall of blocks; -- Pinch Hitter: step up to the plate and take a few swings with the Wii Remote; -- Bubble Bobble: hold the Wii Remote like an NES controller to burst all of the bubbles in this retro arcade puzzler; -- Safe Cracker: memorize the combination then enter the code by tilting your Wii Remote left and right to crack the safe; -- Sonic Blastman 20XX: clutch your Wii Remote and punch at the screen to destroy asteroids heading for earth; -- Super Karate: execute offensive and defensive maneuvers with your Wii Remote to defeat your opponent." This sounds very cool! Read the entire article here. Screenshots via GameSpot. (0) Comments |

The gang at palgn.com.au is running a story this morning that SNK Playmore is planning to release an Arcade Classics Collection for PS2, PSP and possibly the Wii:
"Following in the compilation footsteps of former arcade rival Capcom, SNK Playmore has announced via press release its plans to release a collection of some of its own classic arcade titles from yesteryear, the first in a supposedly planned volume of releases.
To contain no less than sixteen titles, the suitably titled SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1 will contain a bevy of SNK's earliest arcade fighting games.." SNK To Release 'Arcade Classics' Collection (0) Comments |

"Thirty-five years ago, Nolan Bushnell and his new company, Atari, released the world's first successful video arcade game: Pong. Bushnell talks to Liane Hansen about the grandfather of modern video games and how it relates to today's gaming industry."

Very cool! Arcadecontrols.com member ArtMAME had a co-worker make this for a recent birthday.
I can just hear the cake talking in that deep voice: "I hunger!" We need more creativity like this on birthdays. I'm tired of the plain old rectangular sheetcakes with boring little roses on everything. Fondant is where it's at. Hmmm, maybe I should become a cake decorator. Check out the thread over at the Arcadecontrols.com forums. (0) Comments |
