A recent E-Bay auction netted on lucky seller $10,000.01 for a 1972 Computer Space, that, by looking at the pictures of the auction appears to be in near-mint condition. The auction discription was as follows:
"This auction is for an original 1972 Nutting and associates COMPUTER SPACE video arcade game. This one is all original! It works 100%. It was purchased from the original owner (operater) over 25 years ago and then stored until I recently purchased it. This machine is in very good shape physically. The original paint is in superb condition. Control panel is near mint, Bezel is mint. Mechanically, it works perfect. We had gone through the circuit boards and had them all serviced. Circuit board set is so clean you could eat off it. Everything works 100%. The sounds all work great. Video is nice and clear. Original TV is in this and has the original back to the TV. The original paint thinner coin box is present and we also upgraded the power supply for better reliability. Coin mechs work great. Locks and keys included. Schematics included. The coin meter works fine and we have no reason to believe it was ever DISconnected. It has only 6000 original clicks to it! I have a feeling this is what happened back in the EARLY 1970s: It was on location, the power supply died, it took out a few chips when it died and was taken off location, stored and was never touched or serviced until we bought it. It is a REALLY clean, beautiful original piece." 36 bids later, $10,000 was made. That's one heck of take on this machine. Of course, this is nearly the Holy Grail of classic Arcade Machines so it's understandable that one in working near-mint condition would fetch such a high price. Hit the links for more pics.
